Can you access the drive from Nautilus? If you go to computer:/// it should show up. It probably is just not set to appear on the desktop. –  RolandiXor Aug 29 '11 at 13:38
The wording of the question implies to me that the same USB device worked in an earlier version prior to 11.04, Is that true? If you are just saying that you installed 11.04 and this flash drive doesn't work with Ubuntu, it could just be that it doesn't work with Ubuntu. I have at least 3 flash drives that are not compatible with Linux at all. –  Dennis Aug 29 '11 at 15:13
What file system is the flash drive formatted with? NTFS? FAT32? EXT4? –  Justin Andrusk Aug 29 '11 at 20:33
