Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

Here is the situation:

I have a 11.04 desktop host running VirtualBox 4.1 from the repositories.

I would like to run a 10.04 Server guest with complete LAN and internet access.

I've followed the instructions here and here to no avail.

DO you get any kind of error message? –  Bryan Agee Aug 5 '11 at 19:38
@Bryan - None at all - when I run ifconfig I don't get any IP from my network - but I have internet access. –  jrg Aug 5 '11 at 19:43
Can you post the contents of your /etc/networking/interfaces file? (from the guest) –  Bryan Agee Aug 5 '11 at 19:50
@Bryan I'll figure out how to do that. –  jrg Aug 5 '11 at 20:28
Run 'cat /etc/networking/interfaces' in terminal, then copy and paste. –  Bryan Agee Aug 5 '11 at 20:32
