I am currently trying to install Ubuntu 11.04 on a laptop and I am having difficulties finding my wireless connection in the network menu. The thing is that I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 on this laptop quite a few times and every time my wireless connection would show up. But now for some reason my connection doesn't appear in the network menu. I have also tried running the installer from a different cd with no success (connection doesn't appear) and also tried using a wired connection that is not being recognised either. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

Make sure your wireless card is on. I know it sounds mean and stupid but I have seen many Seasoned Tech make this small mistake.

Look for a button on your laptop that slides you you push that has the wireless symbol on or near it .

If there is no such button then look on the key board and find the wireless symbol push it if nothing happens then try function and that key.
