Skype is very glitchy for me (fresh installed Ubuntu 11.04., 32-bit version, laptop ASUS K42J). My contacts appears on-line for a short time and then goes offline again (almost every 5minutes) . I doubt that it’s a network issue, because on my another laptop Skype works good under Windows 7. I found something similar (but actually is not the same case) here Skype 2.2.0.25 keeps going off Had tried to delete shared.xml file but with no result Thanks in advance for any suggestions how to fix it

It happens for me as well. You should remember that Skype is still in Beta version for the Linux platform. – nitstorm Aug 1 '11 at 15:09

You can try Windows version of Skype under WINE. I've tried such approach couple of years ago. It worked for me those times :) Just download some older Skype (version 3 or one of first subversions of v.4 (oldversion.com/Skype.html) – Vincenzo Aug 7 '11 at 20:27
