I've got a new ASUS EeePC that I installed with 11.04, the wifi situation has slowly degraded over the last few months, from occasional connection problems to now the machine freezes and kernel panics whenever I make a connection. It seems specific to making the connection (can have wifi turned on with no connection.)

The commonly suggestion solution is to upgrade the kernel to a 2.6.39 version. I've tried various kernel ppas with no luck, have tried manually downloading and installing a 2.6.39 kernel, and then fglrx fails. I'm at the end of my rope here.

Currently running 2.6.38-11 generic because at least it boots. What else can I try to do?
