Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

After upgrading to 11.04, I reloaded 10.10. When I went to sync and restore my files all I have is my old directory structure empty of my files.

I had go to UbuntuOne to find the file I want and download the file. When I run my desktop Ubuntuone never connects, I do have an active restart button which does nothing.

Is there and easier way to retrieve files from UbuntuOne or I am better off saving my files to a thumb drive .

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. @Michael You've got half a dozen sub-issues here that we might be able to help with. The problem is you haven't really gone into detail with any of them, in favour of telling us how you feel. If you want help for any of the actual technical problems, please start new questions for them, giving as much relevant detail as you can. Please leave out the needless feelings and comparisons to Windows, or they'll probably just be closed as not-a-question or off-topic. –  Oli Jul 5 '11 at 9:39

Try this:

killall ubuntu-sso-login; u1sdtool -q; u1sdtool -c

If your usung 10.4 then use this: u1sdtool -q; killall ubuntuone-login; u1sdtool -c

This should open a window to rejoin Ubuntu One and Sync.
