I have very low speed when copying files from dvd (about 2-3 MB/s).

hdparm -Tt /dev/sr0

/dev/sr0:
 Timing cached reads: `2224 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1112.00 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 8 MB in 3.70 seconds = 2.16 MB/sec

How can I increase speed?

What is the maximum speed of the DVD and DVD-drive? I don't think this is such a bad speed to read at from a DVD btw. –  RobinJ Jul 1 '11 at 17:41

did you check if dma is turned on? (sudo hdparm /dev/sr0 should show a using_dma = 1) –  Rinzwind Jul 1 '11 at 19:04
