Ubuntu 11.04 keeps crashing when i use Firefox, browsing through large pictures with Google. How come?

While using Firefox Ubuntu simply stops, black screen, restarts and prompts me to log in again. This problem did not occur in the past versions of Ubuntu (i.e. 10, 9...) on the same machine.

SPECS: I am using a Dell Vostro 1510 with integrated Intel graphic controllers. LSPCI reads: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 0c)

can you explain what you mean by crashing - is it firefox crashing, or does ubuntu dump you to the login prompt? If its ubuntu, have a look at your xorg log files (log file viewer) - what error messages are displayed around the time of the crash. – fossfreedom Jun 29 '11 at 19:01

@jo-erlend: and am i not asking a question? Obviously I am looking for a solution to this problem, which is expressed by its description. If indeed the answer is that it is a bug that cannot be fixed, I will use Launchpad. You can vote the question down as much as you want I won't care less: the problem is still existing and needs a solution. – Benjamin Jun 30 '11 at 8:36
@fossfreedom: I edited the question. It is not Firefox crashing but indeed after the screen turns black, I am prompted to log in again. I will have to wait for the crash to occur again and note the exact time of the crash, then i'll be able to post the log. Thanks. – Benjamin Jun 30 '11 at 8:39
@fossfreedom: thanks. I edited my question with specs. No special drivers installed. – Benjamin Jun 30 '11 at 9:11

As far as Firefox crashing that i have found so far is when i go to a site that uses Flash in which case instead of installing flash i install gnash sudo apt-get install gnash stops 98% of the flash sites from crashing
