Mac uses Timemachine and so I looked at Timevault but it seems very outdated and I couldn't get it to work.

Is there a way to do incremental and timed backups of an Ubuntu machine automatically?

The best out there imo, i have it in production, and it's impressive. (and it only uses rsync and cp with hardlinks, with an excellent programming). Backintime.

It's available at the repositories.
