Once logged in to gnome session, ubuntu not taking input from keyboard...

While Logging I was able to enter administrator password but once that is done it is not taking input from keyboard...

I tried to do the system testing but I am not able to type administrator password for that...

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome Desktop environment.

Please help me...

Yes,it is a laptop and i dont have external keyboard to try that option...and how to launch onscreen keyboard –  javanoob Jun 21 '11 at 16:41
if you start it in recovery mode and get a terminal can you still type after login? –  Alvar Jun 21 '11 at 16:45
yes, in recovery mode it is working alright –  javanoob Jun 21 '11 at 17:23
