Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Lately I have been messing around with Lubuntu and today I decided to try to setup a web server (Apache2) with PhpMyAdmin and MySQL Server. This was going great until I attempted to use my test page. All I ended up getting was raw code. Even more frightening, PhpMyAdmin was also spitting out just the raw code.

Here are the things I have already done:

  • I have checked for short tags (I'm not using them) and enabled them just in case
  • I have made sure the php5 module is linked in apache (it is)
  • I have added this code to my Virtual server conf file to attempt to enable php
  • I have reinstalled php to no avail

At this point any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

Your question is missing following informations and debugging steps: Which actual php5-xyz package did you install? Where's the LoadModule directive in /etc/apache? What warnings do you get when removing the <IfModule> wraps? What's the assigned AddHandler for PHP? What does apache -M or -S or -X tell you? –  mario Jun 30 '14 at 23:56
Are you using php5-fpm module? If you're check the solution in this link: digitalocean.com/community/questions/apache-2-4-with-php5-fpm –  Flint Jul 2 '14 at 8:47
