I have Ubuntu 14.04 with the Xubuntu (Xfce) desktop. When I print something, the printer icon appears in the notification area in the panel. But the printer icon does not respond to anything. I try to left-click or right-click: nothing.

I remember a similar bug one or two Ubuntu versions ago with the volume control, and I even installed a patch, which made the volume control icon responsive again.

So, how to get the printer icon to respond to clicking?

The same here in Linux Light2 (Xubuntu light version). Paper out indication. Did nothing R and L clickmouse and stayd. So I put paper in the printer. Deleted the printertask. And restarted until it was gone. It's a bug I'm afraid. – user301379 Jul 7 '14 at 22:40
Likewise, Xubuntu 14.04 (w/ 3.13.0-46), the printer icon appears in the XFCE panel and is unresponsive to L/R clicks, seems like a bug to me. – sharky Mar 3 '15 at 23:53
