Based on the comment on a question on Superuser.com, I started wondering if it's possible to show a progress bar with no text during an installation.

That could be used to provide a user-friendly installation for computer illiterate for which a few lines can be very confusing.

I found something interesting. You can decide what to show and what to not show in some UI property files. At last, I have found the path. Is in usr/share/ubiquity/gtk/. You just have to set some parameters in the screen you want to use. For example I needed to deactivate labels so i have set all GtkLabels in visible=False.

PS: This "no text" mode should exists in ubuntu in some place. Maybe an improvement to next versions. Bye

I have found a way to quit the ubiquity-slideshow and show only the progress bar in the GTK installation window, but I still cannot quit the text over the progress bar. I was looking at the python files but still cannot find the one who render that text. Anyone here knows where is it? thanks in advance.

How did you do that? By editing the python files or by passing a configuration parameter? – Lekensteyn Jun 12 '11 at 19:56
that was easy, just modifying the templates at ubiquity-slideshow folder. Is just html. But modify the python files is different cause I cannot find the view or the file which render the progress bar. Do you know where is it? or how to pass configuration parameters? – RDAM Jun 12 '11 at 20:46
