I am using ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I used the instructions at : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ResizeWubiDisk to increase ubuntu disk size(I used the live resize option). Following are my observations :

1) The output for df -h does not show any increase in the size and size of /dev/loop0 remains the same. 2) As a side effect the amount of memory that I opted for increase is subtracted from the free space of /dev/sda5 (which is /host). 3) The last command caused an abrupt shutdown.

How can I explain this behaviour?

Do you have any further update on this? What happened after rebooting? Those live resize instructions were added there recently by @psusi so maybe he can comment. –  bcbc Jun 16 '14 at 21:13
Actually I couldn't figure out the very first time that it did boot with the live cd. So whatever I did, it did not work out as expected. The next time when I tried after booting from the live cd it worked properly. So this issue is resolved. –  user3044947 Jun 18 '14 at 5:06
