I currently have ubuntu 12.04 and when I try to update the version 14.04 after a while appears that message:

W:Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/universe/source/Sources 404 Not Found [IP: 80]
W:Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/multiverse/source/Sources 404 Not Found [IP: 80]
E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Then the upgrading process stops.
How can I resolve this?

This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question.

Hmm, are you sure you're running Ubuntu 12.04 at the moment? Seems like it's trying to get the sources for Hardy Heron (which is Ubuntu 8.04). Editing your question to include the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list may help. –  yjwong Jun 13 '14 at 16:57
