I am running 12.04 LTS. I recently got a new PIXMA MG2520 printer and attempted to install the driver for it.

I first tried using something from GutenPrint, but that didn't install successfully. Then I found a post in UbuntuForums that had a link to a Canon driver for my printer for Linux (debian Packagearchive). That seemed to install okay, and the test page printed fine.

It still seems to print okay when I need it, but I keep getting popups either when I first boot up or when I turn on the printer saying "System Program Problem Detected." How can I clear up this problem?

A crash in the driver is a bug that Canon need to fix, contact their email support at sup-debian@list.canon.co.jp –  bain Jun 13 at 14:06
