pstree shows me Apache as having only once processus generated (Ubuntu Server 12.10).

I do not think this is normal given the number of sub-processes Apache may launch. Could you explain me why this happen on my server and how to fix it (see all Apache sub-processes)?

I highly recommend upgrading Ubuntu to 14.04. Ubuntu 12.10 is not LTS, and isn't even supported anymore. As a server, I highly recommend using LTS. Or at the very least, keep the distribution up to date with supported software. –  Dan May 22 at 18:23

Maybe your apache installation uses threads for workers or maybe apache has not spawned any sub processes because there were no requests (i.e. no need to have any workers)
