I have changed settings in Xubuntu 14.04 so that my laptop screen (which is partially broken) is disabled after logging in, and the desktop is only displayed on my external monitor. I did this via Settings Manager > Display.

However when I turn on the computer initially, the splash and Light Locker are displayed on both screens despite my changed settings. I'm wondering if there is any way to make my settings come into effect earlier than post-login.

Note: Nothing is displayed on the laptop screen at the GRUB Menu.

I think it's impossible, like for BIOS on specific screen. But you could simply open your laptop, disconnect the screen (physically, like, unplug it), and then the primary source will be automatically the VGA/DVI/Whatever external. –  MrVaykadji May 23 at 5:27

Ah that's an idea. Surely something can be done with the Light Locker situation at least though, it seems well past the BIOS stage. –  Peter May 23 at 5:29
