Logged a bug here: "Excel Mac open files as read-only on Samba 4.1.6-ubuntu"

We didn't have this problem in Precise. I'd either like to:

  • Downgrade to the Precise version of Samba
  • Upgrade to Samba 4.1.7

For option 1, is there a way to add Precise as an apt repo? Will this actually work? Is there a "samba3" it apt for trusty?

For option 2, is there a PPA that has Samba 4.1.7? I looked at couldn't find one :(

4.1.7 Packages were in Debian unstable... but it doesn't fix the issue :(

vi /etc/apt/sources.list

deb unstable main contrib non-free
deb-src unstable main contrib non-free

apt-get update
apt-get install samba

vi /etc/apt/sources.list

apt-get update
apt-get clean
