More info needed. What were you doing, error occurred at what time (boot, when plugging a device etc.) –  cshubhamrao May 12 at 11:56

yes it happens frequently when i plug my cdma evdo internet device. This doesnot happens with previous linux kernel.first i see the crash log from dmesg command. if i unplug device i cannot do any thing. Basically system won't be usable when that log appears. –  gyanu May 12 at 12:00

Which kernel are you using? find it with uname -a command –  cshubhamrao May 12 at 12:02

What Ubuntu release are you running? –  Mitch May 12 at 12:04

kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.3-utopic i was using this. –  gyanu May 12 at 12:07

You have hit a bug in the Linux kernel - kernel.org bug #75521. Make sure you are running the latest kernel packages. You could also try to upgrade to the mainline kernel where the bug might be fixed already (see How do I add the mainline kernel PPA?), or downgrade to the previous kernel where this was working for you.

edit: you just confirmed you are using the mainline PPA, in which case purging the PPA and reverting back to the default kernel might fix the issue.

i have main Linux kernel gyanu-SVT13135CXS 3.13.0-26-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 7 23:31:02 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux also but sometime touchpad doesn't work consistently.So i was having two kernels. –  gyanu May 12 at 12:12

If you are feeling particular adventurous, you could install the latest tip kernel, verify that the bug exists there, and if so, report it on the linux kernel mailing list. –  bain May 12 at 12:22
