When playing DVDs with VLC the audio cuts in and out. What can be causing it? I'm using Xubuntu 14.04 (32 bit). I'm using a Gateway 310H Desktop with a Thraser Intel motherboard. The audio is integrated into the motherboard itself.

Mind you, this PC is 11 years old. Back in 2011, while this system was running Windows XP (SP 3), the sound would cut out sometimes and I would have to go into the Device Manager to disable and enable the sound device (RealTek). I think in the end it comes down to age. – PriyaRaiFan May 14 '14 at 12:33

I'm seeing that after having upgraded to 14.04 LTS also, and this suggestion fixed it for me: Skip H.264 in-loop deblocking filter
