Starting Point => Ubuntu 11.04 w/ Unity fully-functional

From the starting point noted above, I began some experimentation with the Ubuntu Classic Interface to determine memory usage relative to Unity. After having logged out of the classic interface, I saw the classic interface with no effects option. Hey, why not check this out too...assuming that is was the classic Gnome interface, sans Compiz. Everything functioned as I expected.

Now, I am ready to return to the Ubuntu Desktop and continue learning about Unity. As it turns out, I was unable to do this. Upon entering, the desktop reverted to the classic interface without effects. Compiz was not active because of issue associated with my Nvidia card.

The Nvidia card issue was not difficult to diagnose. I could see that the driver was installed, but not active. Ok, a little extra work, but everything is back to normal and Unity is functioning properly. It seems that I ought to be able to go back and forth between login session without having to rework my video card driver installation/configuration.

Has anyone else, with an Nvidia video card, experienced such as issue as I have described above?
