Is there a utility that allows a drag and drop of app icon to the desktop to create a quick launch icon? I know the terminal command to create one. But it is somewhat difficult if you do not know the command path.

you can grag and drop icons from /usr/share/applications to ~/Desktop. From that, you can launch the corresponding program. –  Avinash Raj Apr 27 '14 at 2:29
I have to that from folder to folder but that worked! Thanks. Still not able to drag it to the desktop. Gave me a permission error. –  Dhartman3076 Apr 27 '14 at 2:36
sudo nautilus, move to applications folder drag and drop to desktop. Then change the permissions on the dropped file like (sudo chmod +x ~/Desktop/filename.desktop).That's all. –  Avinash Raj Apr 27 '14 at 2:41
Found where to change the permissions of the folder to enable the drag and drop. Thanks for the help... –  Dhartman3076 Apr 27 '14 at 2:57
