After removing ubuntu-desktop when I was removing abiword and other default files on lubuntu 14.04, I am kinda unsure if it is safe to use apt-get autoremove.

Here are the list of files that are being deleted:

Nothing in here should totally break your system. From what is listed, you will be removing:

  • Java (for browser plugin and Java programs)
  • LibreOffice (the office programs suite)
  • Brasero (for CD burning)

It's possible some of the libraries will impact functionality of other programs as well. It's better to only specifically remove what you know you don't need than do the autoremove.
