please file a bug report - at least two questions have reported the same issue. The developers need to be aware of the situation and fix it for future users. Thanks. –  fossfreedom Apr 20 at 23:11

Just upgrade your kernel afterwards using apt-get.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-generic

What you need is

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

More more info check this question - What is “dist-upgrade” and why does it upgrade more than “upgrade”?
