Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Basically I have 6 VMs set up, all configured with static routes, providing a client 2 routes to a server. The static routes have all had metrics added to them so that the the traffic takes the preferred route of choice. I've used traceroute to check that it works as designed.

I use the wget command to download a file from the server.

Is there a way to either monitor this connection, or another tool, which I can use to see the route that the traffic is taking to obtain the file from the server?

My need for this it that I plan to implement a load balancer soon so need some way of checking.

Many thanks
