I am running compiz on my Ubuntu 13.10 machine and when there are no windows on the screen, rotating the cube freezes my computer. The cursor is movable but I cannot click on anything. What's interesting is that I can click somewhere and while the X display doesn't update, the cursor acts like the window is open and I can "resize" it, even though I don't see it.

Here's the output of a verbose lspci, piped in to grep for VGA.

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

In this case I would try and open a terminal and use xrefresh but I can't really open a terminal.

Other stuff that may matter:
I'm using MATE
I installed MATE in Ubuntu GNOME, because I didn't like GNOME 3 anymore
I am using this kernel: 3.11.0-19-generic
