I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.

I want to use Icecast2 to create a server at localhost, and have an iPhone to connect to the stream with VLC.

I followed this post: How do I setup an Icecast server for broadcasting audio in my network?

I followed its steps about Icecast2 and Darkice, and VLC on iPhone can connect to the http://localhost:8000/mystream.mp3 without an error, but it doesn't play anything while Ubuntu is playing music.

What should I do to let my iPhone play the music?

I don't know what other information I should provide, so do please tell me what to add to this question.

Try with device=default in the darkice.cfg. In addition you may have to define the appropriated device for recording (ALSA plug-in [Darkice]) in pavucontrol too. If that fails try whether an .m3u stream mount point is better recognized. –  Takkat Mar 29 '14 at 10:04
@Takkat Thanks! I tried both of your possible solutions, but neither of them worked... –  Greek Fellows Mar 29 '14 at 14:42
Does the ALSA plug-in [Darkice] show movements of the VU bar in pavucontrol recording tab? –  Takkat Mar 29 '14 at 20:45
