I installed MATE desktop on my Ubuntu, i.e. it had only Unity.

Once I come back to Unity,

  • Right click >> "Change Desktop Background" does nothing
  • System Settings >> Appearance and choosing a background does not change the background, though it changes the background for the greeter and lock screens

Seems like the wallpaper is being managed by MATE and not by Unity, how can I set it back ?

I checked that it is taking the background from org.mate.background instead of org.gnome.background . How can I fix that ?
