I paste code and formatted (mysql results, program output, stacktraces) snippits through empathy many times a day. Empathy always thinks it's doing me a favor by trimming each line as if it were plain html in need of HTML style whitespace removal.

How can I make empathy stop treating my text as span and start treating it like pre?
