I found a great program called Kaffiene, since I use my TV as a PC monitor rather than a TV I decided to get my TV tuner (I still have some Windows PC's) and plug it in my PC. Then I opened Kaffiene, and it wouldn't detect any channels on the signal, it seems to be plugged properly. This is my Tuner: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr950q.html Also, when I try to watch TV, I get a black screen.

probably not whatt you mean, and I don't know how much you are attached to Kaffeine, but the only program I can get my tv card working with, without (any) trouble is tvviewer sourceforge.net/projects/tv-viewer I use it since ages to record tv programs. You could give it a shot –  Jacob Vlijm Mar 16 at 19:26

@Jacob how do I install this? –  user245115 Mar 16 at 19:56

you will have to install its dependencies manually: ivtv-utils, Mplayer, xdg-utils. then run a terminal inside the installation folder's directory (tv-viewer-0.8.2b1): ./configure.tcl, and then sudo ./install.tcl. I will only make it an answer if it works :) –  Jacob Vlijm Mar 16 at 20:05

...with manually, I mean either the software center or synaptic :) –  Jacob Vlijm Mar 16 at 20:22
