I have a RadioShack GigaWare PC controller (Cat No. 26-1519).

I plugged it in, but it is not listed in lsusb.

My lsusb:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 007: ID 0b38:0003 Gear Head Keyboard
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 045e:0084 Microsoft Corp. Basic Optical Mouse
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 04f2:b249 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd

I tried installing xboxdrv, xserver-xorg-input-joystick, joystick, still nothing.

I have this exact model and mine shows up. are you sure that the controller is not a dud? I did not have to install any of the programs to get it working. I only had to install a mapper program (qjoypad) to be able to simulate keyboard presses and mouse movement for game that did not support controllers. (note however that the key mapping of the controllers is a bit odd and may not conform to the exact keys that the game may tell you to use) –  TrailRider Feb 15 at 2:56

upon checking terminal output, it is identified as ID 0079:006f DragonRise Inc. so could it be the "chicony electronics" device that is listed in your output?? unplug it and see if anything changes(it is possible that while the model numbers of out controllers are the same some of the parts are different so it may not show the same name) however as you can see in mine, nothing is mentioned about "gigaware" or even "controller" –  TrailRider Feb 15 at 3:02
