Since installing Evolution 3.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 it seems I must select (the only existing) mailing list every time I create a new mail before I can pick my recipients from it. This was not the case hitherto, a default mail list was immediately available. Is it possible to define a default list any more?

As it makes no sense to select recipients from a mailing list, do you by any chance mean a contact list aka addressbook? // I've just verified what you wrote, and saw no way to enable a pre-selection here. As a work-around, you can go to Edit→Preferences→Contacts and check your address books for "auto-complete". In a new mail, then just start typing and select from the popup. –  Izzy Feb 11 '14 at 22:38
