Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm trying to run Ubuntu from a USB drive. When I boot the computer, I get a bunch of messages. The last message is something like

kernel panic not syncing attempted to kill init booting

I am using an MSI 970-43a motherboard. I read something about enabling IOMMU, but I can't seem to find that option in the BIOS.

This is my first time using linux, so I don't really know too much on how to troubleshoot this issue.
