This question already has an answer here:

I want to change my WiFi MAC address. I tried a plenty of ways such as http://www.upubuntu.com/2013/05/change-mac-address-using.html, How to change wlan0 mac adress? and

ifconfig wlan0 down
ifconfig wlan0 hw ether 00:1E:68:35:FF:91
ifconfig wlan0 up

and other but nothing helped. Or I did something wrong.

Is there any correct, 100% working way to do that?

What do you mean by nothing helped? Please run those command again and provide the output of 'ifconfig'. Actually, it's correct what you do in general. Also do you use ubuntu with Graphical UI, or command line? –  arhimed Jan 19 at 10:28

In a terminal (xterm is OK) execute: sudo apt-get install macchanger to install macchanger.
This is a security software used to obtain a totally random MAC address, a partially random MAC address or a new, personalized MAC address on any of your devices.
Execute sudo macchanger--mac XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX with the new desired MAC after the -mac option or execute sudo macchanger --another to set a random MAC address compatible with your device ("of the same kind" or, in other words, that will not change the reported model of card).
If you change your mind just execute sudo macchanger --permanent to restore the default MAC address. There is no risk, these are safe operations.
