i am trying to upgrade to 11.04 using alternate cd since my net is so slow and i dont want to make a fresh install. but then when i burn the cd and try to make upgrade it will reach the stage of setting up the new software channel "calculating the updates" and an error message will appear which says::

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: Can not mark 'ubuntu-desktop' for upgrade

This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.

i guess you would need to disable 3rd party ppa's before upgrading? – Uri Herrera May 5 '11 at 3:49
