Using 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with all current updates and latest stable kernel (3.12.6). Also applied advices from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AsusZenbookPrime - there is writing, that internal mic works fine but mine does not.

But microphone generates noise regardless of: external mic: Combo jack (headphones output + mic input). Type the following code in a terminal window and hit 'Enter': echo options snd-hda-intel model=laptop-dmic | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf Then restart alsa: sudo alsa force-reload

... but I need to get internal mic to work without strong background noise...
