I installed Vuze from the website. How can I set it to the default application to open torrent files?

vuze is not installed

I see it's possible to edit the mime app list: http://askubuntu.com/a/393410/45156

But it's not clear what to point it to. In this case, Vuze has been downloaded from the website and is not installed to the system.

Another approach would be to install 5.2.0.0 to the system.

So your problem is that your Vuze doesn't have a .desktop file? Or what you mean with the not installed to the system? –  falconer Dec 31 '13 at 9:50

both. I downloaded from the website to ensure I had the latest version. I configured Firefox to open torrent/magnets with transmission-qt by browsing to the binary in, IIRC, /usr/bin/.. something like that. (manually entering config into ff didn't work for me.) I'm doing lotsa stuff, but I'll update the question when I get a chance, maybe in the new year, maybe today. –  Thufir Dec 31 '13 at 18:10
