I installed Xubuntu and booted up again to find no grub except it booted up into the windows partition. During the installation, I put the boot loader onto the xubuntu partition, is something wrong with that? If so, tell me how to fix it and get grub back.

BIOS/MBR computers only boot from MBR or first sector of hard drive. They cannot directly boot from a partition. (There are some work arounds for those who say you can, but those are not standard). You can manually install grub2's boot loader to MBR or use Boot-Repair. help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair Also: help.ubuntu.com/community/RestoreUbuntu/XP/Vista/7Bootloader –  oldfred Dec 26 '13 at 20:54
