I have been using Cinnamon interface with Ubuntu 13.04 for a while and I really liked it. Recently I upgraded to 13.10 and installed the default Cinnamon 1.7 available in the package manager. I was able to log in with cinnamon but each time the desktop freezes and forces me to shutdown. I then switched to default Ubuntu interface and installed Cinnamon 2.0 (thinking it would be some compatibility issue). However, when I switch to Cinnamon, I get the following message

Cinnamon just crashed. You are currently using Fallback mode.

I don't quite understand why it occurs. I read on web that there were few issues with using Cinnamon in Ubuntu 13.10, but fixed recently.

I appreciate any ideas to overcome the above problem.

Thanks.
