In my office, I am connecting an external monitor to my laptop. The problem is when I switch to the external monitor and disconnect it, it doesn't automatically switch back to my laptop's screen and I cannot work with my laptop so I should restart it. Is there a way to fix it?

This was the problem that I have with maverick. Now with natty it's even worse. Sometimes when I connect the monitor I don't see anything on neither of them and when I disconnect the monitor, I just see the mouse cursor on my laptop's screen with a black background. It would be very nice if I can change the monitor with a script or something.
