I have a system running Windows - works perfectly.

I decided to install Natty Narwhal on a separate hard disk (disconnected all other hard disks). After installing Ubuntu, I see the following message on the BIOS screen and the boot-up stops:

WARNING !! Now system is in safe mode Please re-setting CPU frequency

When I Ctrl+Alt+Del, it does not come a second time. But when I reboot via the Ubuntu GUI Shutdown menu, then that warning shows up again.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ps. I have in the past tried this with Maverick Meerkat, it has the same problem.

Hi! What type of HDD are you using(SATA, (P)ATA, SCSI...)? What if you connect the Win HDD, and select the Ubuntu HDD from temporary boot device menu? – B. Roland May 1 '11 at 7:45
It is a SATA HDD. I'm not sure how connecting the Win HDD and then selecting the Ubuntu one for bootup would help? I don't think I want to try that just yet (god knows what Ubuntu might to do my uber-important Win HDD) – Zabba May 1 '11 at 8:03
first of all, start your system only with Ubuntu HDD, then start pressing F8 or F10 or F12 (Usually it is F8!) You will have to see something like that: bit.ly/iNgTTX ... You must have here only 1 HDD! Remember this name, then connect the other HDDs! After all, start your computer, and select that HDD... will it show the warning? – B. Roland May 1 '11 at 8:14
