I changed the desktop environment to gnome which I didn't install. Now I just see my desktop but I can't see my task bar and application bar. What do I do to get bacteria to my normal desktop environment?

1 Answer 1

we have two methods for you. read them and choose simple one to you.

Pess CTRL+ALT+F1 to get into console mode after you reach login screen. Then type as

Method 1:

  sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

It will open a file and looks like

  user-session=ubuntu
  greeter-session=unity-greeter
  autologin-user=alan
  autologin-user-timeout=0

There at user-session replace it from gnome to ubuntu and then save & close with CTRL+X+Y and Enter key.

Then restart your system.

Method 2:

sudo apt-get install gnome-shell

Restart your system.

choose what simple to you.
