I have read the thread "Need help in installing bluegriffon" and followed the instructions. Two things: First it may be because I have Ubnuntu 13.10 and BlueGriffon's latest version seems to go with 13.04 (64-bit variety), but when I open the terminal I get the following message:

(process:3173): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
*** LOG addons.xpi: startup
*** LOG addons.xpi: checkForChanges
*** LOG addons.xpi: No changes found
*** LOG addons.xpi-utils: Opening database
*** LOG addons.manager: shutdown
*** LOG addons.xpi: shutdown
*** LOG addons.xpi-utils: shutdown
*** LOG addons.xpi-utils: Database closed

but the software opens up apparently normally after this.

And my efforts to make an icon appear in my Unity desktop fail after following the instructions. Any help, please?

A link or it never happened cough err... Can you offer the proper links of what you have tried and what was the expected result and what happened instead? As far my I see, the program doesn't even throw warning (the GLib message can be ignored... most of the time). –  Braiam Dec 1 '13 at 18:55

Phew! This is a steep learning curve! Here's a link:- askubuntu.com/questions/304636/… –  N K Lambert Dec 1 '13 at 21:10

Any better? I followed the instructions in this link. You tell me that the GLib messdage can safely be ignored. All I need now is to know why my efforts to get an icon in the Unity bar are unsuccessful and what I can do to get one there. –  N K Lambert Dec 1 '13 at 21:13
