All apt operations insist on performing apt-get -f install but that does not work in correcting.

sudo apt-get -f install only returns the error in the error log:

It seems to choke on a source package 20131114-1 --- have you tried to remove it? (wild guess --- you never know). –  Rmano Nov 18 '13 at 1:09

I feel like that is part of the Vim from src installation. I have done a make uninstall and reinstall while following the mentioned solutions in all variations but nothing. I may just reinstall. This is unusual. –  JCR000 Nov 19 '13 at 1:09

You have a package src installed that contains some files that are as well contained by the vim packages on which vim-gnome depends.

Remove either src or vim-gnome

Thanks for your help though I get the same error. apt still does not correct the dependencies. –  JCR000 Nov 18 '13 at 11:42

Remove the src package.

sudo apt-get purge src

Then you can do anything else.

You can check with sudo apt-get check

Thanks for your help but I get the same errors –  JCR000 Nov 18 '13 at 11:41

@JCR000 as I answered, can you edit your question and add the sudo apt-get check result? –  Braiam Nov 18 '13 at 11:43

Sorry. I cannot. I did a new install. If it happens again I will post an update here. –  JCR000 Dec 12 '13 at 16:16
