I did have the same problem. Solution I found was that I need to Update the system before install it. But after this issue comes nothing can be done. It is not able to uninstall also. There is software which is for Ubuntu that identical to Mobile Parter. It is in Launchpad, called v-mobile-broadband You can install it with following commands. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:crass/v-mobile-broadband , sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get install v-mobile-broadband –  Dumindu Mahawela Nov 14 '13 at 15:39
