when i try to start darktable, simply nothing happens. No error appears, nothing.

What can I do to get an errorlog or something else to get further help?

This happens after upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10

I tried to use

ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release

But don't get any updates.

Edit:

After getting the first answer, i ran darktable from terminal. It saves a file with the following content:

this is darktable 1.2.3 reporting a segfault:

/usr/share/darktable/gdb_commands:2: Error in sourced command file:
No stack

Any ideas what I can do? ~

How did you add the repository ? As Repository name or as "deb.." ? –  user224082 Nov 9 '13 at 12:42

Hm. I can't remember. How can I find out? –  rechengehirn Nov 9 '13 at 12:49

run gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list in terminal. Then in that text file, in search bar type "darktable". Comment the whlole line that contain that word.( Dont make any change in that file. Close without save.) –  user224082 Nov 9 '13 at 13:23

Have you checked System Settings>Software & Updates>Other Software? Upgrading disables third-party repos. –  kelvinilla Nov 9 '13 at 13:57

The easiest way to check errors with most apps is to run them in a Terminal. Try to open a Terminal then run darktable. You should be able to see in text why it refuses to launch.
