Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

A while back, my OS X Install became corrupt and so I used the OS X recovery partition to backup my vital data onto an external hard drive before reformatting the disk.

I then downloaded Ubuntu 13.10 64 bit and burnt the ISO to a CD. I got my mac to boot from the CD and I successfully installed the system. But after it asked to reboot and I hit "OK", the computer rebooted and ejected the disk, but after a few seconds, all I got on the screen was a picture of a folder with a question mark on it.

What exactly is this and what do I need to do to resolve it?
