I'd like to disable the touchpad's tap-to-click feature on my Dell Latitude e6510. I'm running 11.04 Natty. X sees the device like so, according to xinput:

$ xinput list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜   ↳ ImPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint                    id=12   [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]

gpointing-device-settings doesn't have a tab about touchpads. Synaptiks (the config utility for Synaptic touchpads) says there isn't a touchpad in the system. I fiddled the value of /desktop/gnome/peripherials/touchpad/tap_to_click with gconf-editor, but that had no effect.

Please give me a clue what to do. For bonus points I'd like to disable the pointing stick in between the keyboard keys, too.

Thanks,

Leif Wickland

What to do with questions that describe known bugs? this has been reported on Launchpad and as such is now closed. – Marco Ceppi Jun 5 '11 at 22:12
