Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a laptop which I often plug into a larger screen with another display resolution. Thus I'm frequently changing the screen for the system to use. Also I've recently discovered the advantages of half-maximizing windows when working alternatingly in two or more applications.

When changing screens, however the windows basically retain their absolute sizes and positions. So in my case the windows typically have their bottoms outside display, don't fill up half the display, etc. I have to half-maximize the windows again every time I switch screens.

I'm thinking this should be subject of a bug report but I find it difficult to know where to file them. Any ideas on what package is responsible?
